Pianist Riitta Paakki (b. 1971) has influenced on the field of Finnish jazz music for over 20 years. Besides her own trio Paakki has played in Mirja Mäkelä’s band and in the late-1990s they performed also as a duo with the name Girl’s Talk. In the 21st century Paakki has also played in the bands of i.a. Jenny Robson, Jarno Kukkonen, Tero Saarti and Juki Välipakka. Besides doing her own music Paakki has taught jazzpiano in Sibelius Academy and since 2006 also in Ebeli, the pop/jazz department of Espoo music school.
Paakki just finished her doctoral studies in Sibelius-Academy. She is a real expert on Blue Note music in all levels. Drummer Mikko Hassinen and bassist Timo Hirvonen have shared the stage and ideas over numerous projects. Hassinen is also known of his many roles, conducting UMO Big Band, composing and arranging for many genres. In 2015 he won the heavy Teosto award with his small group Electro GT.
Trio takes a deep look in the Blue Note compositions, especially from the pianists point of view. Riitta Paakki takes the lead. This one is for jazz lovers.
